Dance Fever 2023

Launceston College boasts a rich tradition in the Performing Arts, offering students high-quality, professional experiences. Beyond the classes in Audio, Dance, Drama, and Music, we provide numerous programs for student involvement.

In Music, students can utilise a state-of-the-art recording studio and participate in various ensembles, including our acclaimed vocal ensemble that rehearses every Tuesday after school. Our Music tutors are among Tasmania’s finest musicians.

Since 1998, our major College Production, a musical, has been staged at the Princess Theatre. This production allows students to hone their skills in acting, dancing, singing, musicianship, technical theatre, and performance in a professional setting. Moreover, it fosters teamwork, resilience, commitment, and responsibility among cast and crew members, while also offering opportunities to make new friends and build confidence.

Each year, we host Dance Fever, a two-hour combined dance spectacular. Students who enrol join the core cast of this successful show, which features around 200 students from primary and high schools in Launceston, as well as the College, culminating in a performance at the Door of Hope. Participants experience a wide range of dance styles and genres.

The Australian Musical Theatre Festival (AMTF), held annually in Launceston, provides our students with incredible access to actors, singers, and dancers from across Australia. These professionals conduct tutorials and events both on campus and throughout the city, offering our performing arts students and teachers invaluable learning experiences.
